Writer Wednesday: Elisabeth Silvers

March roars in like a lion! Or, in this case, Vampire 😉
Here’s another Boroughs Author!

022I’m just a girl with a big imagination that takes flights of fancy from time to time, and when those flights land in a place where characters are born and a story unfolds I write it down as it plays out.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy a wonderful relationship with my Nook, geeking or nerding out over a multitude of different things, or getting riled up over a hockey game.

Author of Fangs for the Memories, The Officer and the Goon, and Vertigo, visit http://elisabethsilvers.weebly.com/ for more information on my books and ways to connect with me.

Here are a few questions I asked her:

Elisabeth: Fangs for the Memories came about as I struggled to come up with a Valentine’s Day story. I’m a huge vampire fan anyway, and I wanted to do something a little different than I had written so far for Boroughs. Thus Gabby and Toby along with Sharp Happenings was born. Their love adventure however was inspired by my love of Celtic things, and men with Scottish accents. Even if a date is bought and paid for on V-Day…who could ask for more than a hottie with an accent?

Me: What is your typical day like?

Elisabeth: Write or research, probably both at the same time. Hasten to comply with the demands of Scrappy the fat cat, and Tristan the black lab, and of course check facebook, rounding out the day with some World of Warcraft. For the Horde!

Me:  Tell us something you hate doing. Why?

ElisabethI’m drawing a blank on something I hate doing…until I have to do it. I guess I’ll go with finishing a really good book or series. Like most of you, you wait forever for a certain book to come out and when you get it, you tell yourself, “I will read this slowly and savor the story…since there won’t be another one for a year.” But…once you get reading…you cannot stop and although you are savoring every word, every morsel of what the characters are experiencing…you finish it in one day. Yes, that’s something I really hate doing but can’t seem to stop from doing!

Me: What’s your next project?

ElisabethFinish writing a story set in the Shap Happenings universe, the same as Fangs for the Memories. We’ll get to delve deeper into the world of vampire escorts!

Me: Quick! You’re dragged 100 years into the past, what ONE item do you take with you?

ElisabethHmmm, room freshner!

Me: List five adjectives to describe yourself.

ElisabethShy, Silly, Geeky, Sweet, and Weird!

Me: If you were to get a permanent tattoo done, what would it be and where?

Elisabeth: Most likely upper arm, a dragonfly shaped from a Celtic Knot.

Me: If you could tell your teenage self one piece of advice, what would it be?

ElisabethAlways keep your chin up, the hard times eventually pass even when they seem to last forever and cherish every moment you have with those you love.

Me: Do you play a musical instrument?

Elisabeth: No, but I like to sing!

Me: If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be?

Elisabeth: A trip to Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales. An unlimited credit card just for ordering books, that I never have to pay off! (Wouldn’t that be sweet?!?) And…to meet a vampire or werewolf in person! Preferably one of the sexy ones!

Me: What was your favorite decade? (50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, etc.)

Elisabeth: Well, I’m a 90’s kid. The best of both worlds, playing outdoors while it was still relatively safe and being indoors watching the best cartoons and playing video games. And while I like all kinds of music genres, 90’s music takes me back to some really great times when I was at the ice rink or just hanging out with friends

  1. Thanks Priscilla for having me! I’m glad you enjoyed The Officer and the Goon, Kellyann and I hope you like Fangs for the Memories as well.

I still have to remind myself sometimes that this too shall pass. I heartily agree, it is something everyone should remember.

  2. I really enjoyed An Officer and a Goon and can’t wait to read Fangs for the Memories.
Elisabeth, I love what your advice would be to your teenage self:
“Always keep your chin up, the hard times eventually pass even when they seem to last forever and cherish every moment you have with those you love.”
It’s really timeless, and something we should remind ourselves of our whole lives.
I think it’s also a formula for a great romance novel!
